Eating and Drinking

Broad Oak has two village pubs, both serving food and both within 100 yards of Kath's Cottage. Our personal favourite is the Golden Lion a traditional village pub with a long history (it was shown on the original Ordnance Survey map of 1851). Real ale buffs will delight in the excellent Shepherd Neame ales and everyone will enjoy the excellent food and warm welcome offered by Colin and Amanda.

On a warm summers evening we can think of little better than sitting out in the garden of the 'Lion, sipping a glass of Master Brew and watching two local teams play the ancient Kentish Game of Bat and Trap.

The other village pub, the Royal Oak, has a lively atmosphere and is more of a modern family pub complete with a free bouncy castle and the occasional kareoke and disco evening.

Beyond the village there is a wide range of eating options both in the neighbouring villages and in Canterbury. Full details and recommendations will be found in the information folder in the cottage.
